Wm. T. Carel

Funeral services for William T. Carel, who passed away Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Sacred Heart hospital, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 9:00 am at St. James Catholic church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery, Lincoln township.

Father Lloyd Carel, a nephew of the deceased, will be celebrant of the Requiem Mass; Father Bernard Kocher, former pastor of St. Joseph's in Lincoln township, as Deacon; Father Nepple as sub Deacon and Father L.J. Lavelle, pastor of St. James parish, as Master of Ceremonies.

Mr. Carel passed away at Sacred Heart hospital on Saturday afternoon after an illness which had lasted for two months. He was born on March 3, 1886, on Lincoln township, a son of James and Mary Carel. On January 19, 1921, he was united in marriage with Nellie Geary at St. James in LeMars. He had lived in Lincoln township, Union township and LeMars his entire life. At the time of his passing her was 63 years of age. Mr. Carel had farmed for 30 years on the same farm in Union township, retiring and moving to LeMars 5 years ago.

Survivors include his wife Nellie; 5 sisters, Mrs. George Sitzmann of Kingsley, Mrs. Will Sullivan of LeMars, Mrs. Ed Sitzmann of Hinton, Mrs. Harold Carr of Alexandria, La., Mrs. Lee Davis of Albuquerque, New Mex.; 2 brothers, James Carel of Hinton and Bernard Carel of LeMars; 40 nieces and nephews and 19 great nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was a sister, Mrs. John O'Brien.

Mr. Carel was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Remains were taken to the home at 236 1st Ave. NW at 4:00 pm on Monday. Parish vigil was held at 7:00 pm and the Catholic Daughters of America recited the rosary at 8:30 pm, led by Father LaVelle.

Six nephews of the deceased were pallbearers. Wiltgen's funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
