Robert was born on September 21, 1924, in Jasper, to R.C. & Viva Linscomb Pace.
Robert was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army in the Pacific theater. He was a member of DeWitt Clinton Masonic Lodge #29 AF&AM for 60 years, a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of El Mina Shrine. He was also a charter member of the VFW post 6380.
Robert married Janie Martindale Pace on May 22, 1948, in Jasper, where they made their home and raised seven children. Robert owned and operated Pace Trucking before being elected as and holding the office of Jasper County Tax Collector for 28 years. Robert retired to cattle ranching and piddling.
Robert is survived by children; Carol Pace, Connie Wester and husband Michael, Cindy Barmore, Jo Thomas and husband Mike, Jane Walthall and husband Tim, Frank Pace and wife Joan and John Pace; thirteen grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; sisters, Aileen Pace Nunnally and Katheryn Pace Baldwin; brother, Jimmy Pace and wife Jean; and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Pace Mallet and brother Hardy A. Pace.
A private masonic graveside service will be held at Little Hope Cemetery.
