"Frazers and Frazees are supposed to have originated in France, where Rene Frezel had an estate in the Province of Anjou. His son, Simon Frezel, came to England at the time of the Norman Conquest. He settled in Scotland, and is probably the ancestor of the Frazees of that country. At the time of the Jacobite Rebellion in Scotland, some of the Frazers escaped to France, where they family name became "Frazee," and so remained when they returned to Great Britian. Joseph Ephraim Frazee, born in Scotland or England, 1640-45, is the
immigrant ancestor of our Frazees. He was one of the founders of Elizabethtown, NJ, the earliest reference to him there being in 1665-6, when he took the oath of allegiance. His will of 1714-15 names his wife, who was mary Osborn, and sons: Edward, Eliphalet, Samuel, John, Elisha, Joseph and Issac." "Hoye's Pioneer Families..."
