This is an unpublished obituary for Elbert. It comes from a handwritten document formerly in the possession of his sister, Rosie Baker Coffey, and now in possession of Rosie's descendants. No published obituary for Elbert has ever been located.

Elbert Lane, son of Eli and Sarah Jane Baker, was born August 31, 1886 at Hillsboro, Texas and departed this life at an Enid hospital August 8, 1945 at the age of 58 yrs., 11 mos. and 8 days. At an early age he moved with his parents to Missouri and later to Okla., having lived on a farm near Fairview the past 30 years or more. He was converted and baptized about 7 yrs. ago, and shortly before he died he told his loved ones stranding by there was nothing between his soul and his Saviour and asked them to go with him through that Beautiful Gate. He leaves to mourn his passing 3 brothers of the home--Aubrey, Albert, and Walter, 1 brother Cleveland of Los Angeles, Calif, 3 sisters--Mrs. Ella Marks of Ft. Cobb, Okla., Mrs. Etta Hayes of Boise City, Okla., and Mrs. W. C. Coffey, Canton, Okla., besides many other relatives and friends.
