OBITUARY

William E. Baker, son of Eli Calvin Baker and Sarah Jane Baker, was born August 2 1882 near Hillsboro, Texas, and died at his home in Canton, Oklahoma at 6:30 p.m. April 18, 1945, age 62 years, 8 months and 16 days.

He was married to Elizabeth Howerton, January 14, 1914 at Taloga, Oklahoma. Four children were born to them: William E., Jr., Ruth, Neva, and Verda.

He was married to Gertrude Scott, April 17, 1929 at Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Left to mourn his departure are his wife, Gertrude, of the home; son William E., Jr., of Huron, Calif.; daughters, Mrs. Ruth [Mrs. Phillip] Eberley, Mrs. Neva [Janzen], and Mrs. Verda Cluckner, of Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Rosy Coffey of Canton, Mrs. Ella Marks, Baton Rouge, La., and Mrs. Etta Hayes, Boise City, Okla. Five brothers, Albert, Elbert, Walter and Aubrey of Longdale and Cleveland of Calif. His parents and two brothers, Tony and Andy, preceded him in death.

He was baptised a member of the L.D.S. church, September 19, 1937. He was patient and kind, and many will miss his cheerful countenance. He had lived in Canton since March 1932.

We shall miss him, oh so much, but we have the sweet consolation that he rests from his labors and that his sweet influence and love will lead us Heavenward.

The funeral service was conducted by Elders O. E. Slayton and Ray Diamond at the L. D. S. church, April 20, at 2:30, and internment in Canton cemetery.
