John Trammell Dies at Age 80
John Ira Trammell, 80-year-old retired Chickasaw county farmer of the Sonora community, suffered a stroke at his home Tuesday afternoon about 5 o'clock as volunteers were putting out a grass fire that demolished an out-house.
Mr. Trammell suffered the stroke on the outside of his house. Efforts to revive him failed.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, today (Thursday) from the Prospect Methodist Church with the Rev. John Bowie officiating. Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge.
He leaves a son, Raymond Trammell of Birmingham, Ala.; a daughter, Mrs. Curtis Spencer of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Oris Martin of Batesville, 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was born in Alabama Sept. 24, 1886, the son of Jimmy Trammell and Purella Pyron Trammell. He was a member of the Prospect Methodist Church.
