Mrs. Eliza Malinda Deardorff, widow of the late Jacob D Deardorff, died at her home in Franklin township, near McKnightstown, at 2:15 this morning after being in ill health for several years from infirmities. She was 82 years of age.
Mrs. Deardorff was born near Mummasburg and was the youngest of a family if eight children. She was the last of the family of the late Henry and Martha Thomas Lady. She has always resided in Franklin township.
Mr. Deardorff preceded her in death October 12, 1928.
The deceased is survived by eight daughters; Mrs. C A Hershey, Gettysburg; Mrs. John C Bream, Gettysburg RD; Mrs. J Blaine Bushey, Biglerville RD; Mrs. Walter J Lott, Gettysburg RD; Mrs. V S Watson, Oakland, California; Mrs. Homer Shaw, New Kensington, Pa; Mrs. Philip Bower, Emmetsburg, and Mrs. Lolita Charles, McKnightstown; four sons, Ira L, McKnightstown RD; Ralph R, Plainfield, New Jersey; J Gilbert, Lawrenceville, New Jersey; and Clarence D, McKnightstown. Twenty-eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Deardorff was a life long member of Flohr’s Lutheran church.
Brief funeral services from her late home Monday afternoon at 1:30, with further services in Flohr’s Lutheran church conducted by the Rev. Dr. Harvey D Hoover, of the seminary faculty. Interment in Flohr’s church cemetery.
