In 1964 the Schrank family moved from Milwaukee to a farmhouse in New Berlin, Waukesha County.
Her father died 2 days after her 17th birthday in Dec. 1969.
Darlene graduated from New Berlin West High School in June 1971. And she graduated from UW-Stevens Point in May 1975 (Art major).
my cousin never married or had children. She lived in her mother's New Berlin home until it was sold in 1981, then she lived with her sisters Sandy and Chrissy in Waukesha.
Darlene's interests included art, poetry, children. She was a loving person and made a big difference in the lives of many. She was a talented artist and was able to travel on a trip to Europe in 1980.
Darlene grew despondent and depressed in late 1985 after losing a job at Empire Level (November). Just before her 33rd birthday, she commited suicide (hanging) in the wooded area adjoining the land of her former New Berlin home. She was found Dec. 14th but her actual date of death was Dec. 12th (when she went missing).
Darlene Schrank was survived by her mother Frances Wettengel, her stepfather Ron Wettengel, her siblings Mary Schrank, Kathy (Juan) Tovar, Alan (Kathy) Schrank, Sandy Schrank, Chrissy Ramos, Jeanine "Joni," Jayme and Roberta "Robbie" Schrank. Also survived by nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
My cousin is buried beside her father in Holy Apostles cemetery.
