My baptismal godfather.

Robert was the oldest child (of three) and only son of Joseph and Edna (Minzloff) Schrank.

He served in the US Navy from 1945-1949.

Bob rode a motorcyle in his youth but gave it up in late 1949.

Bob married Frances D. Cooper (b. 1932) on October 8, 1949 at St. Gerard Church in Milwaukee. They had ten children between April 1950 and Nov 1969 (one died in infancy).

They lived on S. 35th Street in Milwaukee (a house he helped build) from 1949-1964. In June 1964, the family moved to a large two-story farmhouse at 4636 S. Racine Ave., New Berlin, WI.

Bob Schrank worked as an Electrician at Press Steel Tank and also raised beef cattle on his farm from 1964-1969.

Uncle Bob's hobbies included: rabbit hunting, racing pidgeons and raising canaries and parakeets,

Bob and Fran Schrank celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in Oct. 1969 and shortly thereafter Bob was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Robert Schrank was operated on for his brain tumor at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on 15 Nov, 1969--three days before his tenth child, Roberta "Robbie" was born in the same hospital. He never recovered and died one month later, 20 Dec. 1969, at age 41.

My uncle is buried at Holy Apostles Cemetery in New Berlin. Survived by his wife and nine children. His first grandchild, Steven Robert Mendez, was born on Jan. 13, 1970. Also survived by his parents and his sisters, Shirley (Louis) Young and Catherine (Dick) Zollner.

His widow (my aunt) Fran remarried in 1978.
