Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 19, from the Sebelien farm home near Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Carl Friedrich Sebelien was born July 23, 1840, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. He received his education in Germany. He came to the United States and settled on a farm in Cedar County. He married Wilhelmine Reich on March 21, 1867. Together the couple farmed in Cedar County north of Durant.
Surviving are his wife, Wilhelmine; two daughters, Anna Sebelien and Caroline Sebelien, both at home; and three sons, Rudolph Sebelien, Ernst Sebelien and Herman Sebelien, all at home.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
