Caroline Leese, 66, passed away Friday, January 26, 1940, at her home in Durant, after a long illness. She had been in falling health for several years.

The body has been taken to Runge Mortuary in Davenport and will be returned to the Durant Chapel for services.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., at the Durant Chapel in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Caroline Sebelien was born May 25, 1873, in Cedar County, the daughter of Carl and Wilhelmine (Reich) Sebelien. She received her education in the Cedar County schools. She married John Leese on May 9, 1894. Together they farmed near Sunbury, until they retired in 1927 and moved to Durant. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Durant.

Surviving are her husband, John; three sons, William Leese, Leonard (Martha) Leese and Alvin (Marguerite) Leese, all of Durant; three daughters, Minnie (Johannes) Jurgens, Mrs. William Jurgens and Ella (Frank) Feldhahn, all of Durant; six grandchildren; three brothers, Rudolph (Mary) Sebelien, Ernst (Hilda) Sebelien and Herman Sebelien, all of Bennett; and one sister, Anna (Peter) Vollsen of Davenport.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
