Wilhelmine Sebelien, 88, of Durant, died Tuesday, October 8, 1935, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Leese, in Durant, after a four day illness.

The body was taken to Runge Mortuary in Davenport.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, at the John Leese home in Durant. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Wilhelmine Reich was born May 4, 1847, in Nuestadt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She came to the United States at the age of 15, with her parents and settled on a farm in Scott County and a year later moved to a farm in Cedar County. She married Carl Friedrich Sebelien on March 21, 1867. Together the couple farmed in Cedar County north of Durant. Carl preceded her in death on September 16, 1891. She continued to live on the farm until 1929, when she moved to Durant to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

Surviving are two daughters, Anna (Peter) Vollsen of Davenport and Caroline (John) Leese of Durant; three sons, Rudolph (Mary) Sebelien of Bennett and Ernst (Hilda) Sebelien and Herman (Lillian) Sebelien, both of Sunbury; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two granddaughters, Emma Vollsen and Lida Sebelien.
