Leon R. Stevens
Leon R. Stevens, 76 of 900 W. 37th St., died this morning in Ashtabula General Hospital following a brief illness.
Time of the funeral service Tuesday will be announced by the John Ducro & Son Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends Monday night from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
Mr. Stevens was born Feb. 26, 1894 in Ponca, Neb.the son of the late George and Adelaide Holcomb Stevens. He had lived most of his life in Ashtabula. He was an engineer for the former Pennsylvania Railroad retiring in 1958.
Mr. Stevens was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the VFW, DAV and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen.
His survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Laura) Hawes, Sheffield, one son, George, Chicago and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurel, in 1952; one sister, Ida M. Smith and five brothers, Perry, Arthur, Frank, Edson and Norris Stevens.
