Alexander & Sally had a large family, three of their sons serving during the Civil War. One son, Thomas Jefferson Kennedy "Jeff" was killed at the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou, near Vicksburg,Mississippi, 29 Dec 1863. Their son Henry Abram was injured in the same battle, but recovered.
They moved to Buffalo Co., Nebraska.
Alexander died 10 June 1883 in Kearney, Nebraska, and was buried 12 June, in City of Kearney Cemetery. There was no stone for Alexander, though there is one for his son, Henry Abram Kennedy who is buried near him in the same Plot. (July 1988)
His wife Sarah Ann (Sally)(Tice) Kennedy was buried in the Masonic Cemetery in McMinnville, Oregon.
