Mary E Gillooly, 72, of 24 Candy Lane, died at 1:50 pm Fri
day, Nov 4 1994 in St. Louis University Hospital.

Services will be at 10 am Tuesday at St. Andres's Catholic Church,. Burial will be in St. Andrew's cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.

Ms. Gillooly was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Carbondale, and the American Legion Post 127 Auxiliary in Murphysboro. She also had attended cancer, diabetes and kidney support groups in Jackson County.

She was born March 15, 1922 in Murphysboro, to Vincent Samuel and Mary elizabeth (Layne) Gillooly.

She had served in the Navy as a nurse during WW II and Korean War, and reached the rank of Lieutenant. She was a retired nurse supervisor at the Veterans' Affairs Medical Center in Marion. After her retirement, she worked as a part time nurse at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, Murphysboro.

Survivors include two brothers and sisters in law, Sammy and Candace Gillooly of Murphysboro and Pat and Mary Anne Gillooly of Minneapolis, Minn; one sister and brother in law, Edythe and Brooks Sloan of Hazelwood, Mo; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
