Thousands Mourn Lindy Vaughan’s Passing

Lindy B. Vaughan, 59, of Springdale, Ark., died Jan. 8 at a Fayetteville hospital. He was born April 6, 1927, in Ulan, Okla., the son of Sampson L. and Lillian Auston Vaughan. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran, a musician and entertainer and was owner of the Parker Mountain Bluegrass Band.

Mr. Vaughan owned Parker Mountain Bluegrass Park at Springdale, and was a devout lover and promoter of Bluegrass Music. He and his band have performed in over 20 states the past 12 years.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Vaughan of the home; two sons, Larry Vaughan of San Antonio and Billy Williams of Springdale; three daughters, Mrs. Tom (Tina) Bennett of Springdale, Mrs. Jim (Teresa) Dewitt of Rogers, and Mrs. Robby (Melinda) Boone of Springdale; one brother, Don Vaughan of Houston; five sisters, Shirley Campbell of Moore, Okla., Betty Schofield of Edmond, Okla., Mrs. Dale Sitter, Diane Lytle, and Judy [Chellburg] all of McAlester, Okla., and five grandchildren.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12 at Sisco Chapel of Springdale with the Rev. James Hathorn and the Rev. Jack Music officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery.
