Mabel Marie Applegate, 100, resident of Martinsville since 1965, formerly of Owen County, died Saturday, January 10, 1998, at Grandview Convalescent Center in Martinsville.
Born January 27, 1897, in Gold Creek Hallow, in Morgan County, she was the daughter of Samual and Isabelle (Fisher) Bryant.
She was a homemaker and member of the Samaria Baptist Church in Paragon.. She attended the Eastview Christian Church in Martinsville.
Mrs. Applegate. was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, Martinsville Senior Center Craft Club, Senior Center of Martinsville, Kappa Kappa Sigma of Gosport, Samaria Baptist Church Ladies Aid, and Harrison Township Extension Homemakers Club.
Survivors include a son, Jack Applegate of Martinsville; five grand-children and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death in 1964 by her husband, Oral Wesly Applegate, whom she married on February 10, 1917; a daughter, Esther Marie Applegate; a brother, Franklin Bryant and a sister, Elizabeth Bryant.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 14 at Neal and Summers Funeral Home in Martinsville. The Rev. Norman Ward will officiate.
Interment will be held at Samaria Cemetery in Paragon.
Family and friends may call from 5-9 P.M. Tuesday, January 13 and from 9 A.M. until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Clothe- A-Child, in care of the Martinsville Police Department, Martinsville, IN 46151
