Mrs Nicholas J Romelfanger, 82, long time resident of the Kensal community, died Tuesday at a Valley City hospital.
A Requiem Mass will be conducted at 10am Friday at St John's Catholic Church, Kensal with Rev. J.E. Moore officiating. Burial will take place at St John's Cemetery.
A rosary will be recited at 8pm Thursday at the Hub-Peterson Funeral Home, Valley City.
The former Lula Van Vleck was born October 15, 1876, at Pecatonica, Illinois (to Charles and Martha Van Vleck). Following her marriage to Mr Romelfanger October 26, 1899 in Illinois, the couple moved to the Kensal community where they farmed until 1945 when they moved to Valley City, where her husband died June 30, 1949.
Surviving are nine daughters; Mrs Ralph Wittenberg (Pearl); Mrs Grace Altringer and Miss Rose Romelfanger of Valley City; Mrs Harry Schultz (Julia), Jamestown; Mrs Joseph Miklas (Laura), Courtenay; Mrs Fred Lundgren (Mary), Chicago, Ill.; Mrs George Willenbring (Blanche), Grand Rapids, MN; Mrs Merle Willenbring and Mrs Ernest Rost (Clarice), Bovey MN; 43 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by five brothers and sisters; Mrs Alvin Swift, Rockford, Ill.; Mrs Fred Weber, Mrs Rose Hall, Richard and Leonard Van Vleck, Pecatonica, Illinois. She was preceded in death by one son and three daughters.
