Clinton Fairchild passed away at the age of 79 on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was born January 6, 1932 in Eufaula, OK to Ollie and John Washington Fairchild. He was a member of the U.S. Army, Elks Lodge #476, American Legion Post 19, VFW Post 8242, President of Bard Valley Rod and Gun Club, and a 4-H leader for Bard Boarder Jumpers for many years. He retired from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation in 1992. Clinton lived life to its fullest and cherished every moment. His love for his wife and family was like no other. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, riding around in jeeps, and strumming his own tune on his guitar while listening to old country music. He was a stranger to no one and he always generously offered a helping hand to anyone in need. Clinton is survived by his wife of 53 years, Amy Fairchild; his children, Mike (Donna) Fairchild, Michelle VanHorn (Charlie Hansen), Mitchell Fairchild, and Marcy McKay; brother, Verlin Fairchild; sisters, Dorothy Helvie and Mary Russell; grandchildren, Jeff VanHorn (Jennifer Smith), Jennifer Guest, Melissa Fairchild, Mindy Scott, Stacy (Kellan) Morris, Cody, Ashley, and Kelly McKay. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Clinton was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers and sisters; son-in-law, Andy VanHorn. Viewing will be held at Johnson Mortuary on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Memorial services will begin at 12:00 p.m. His final resting place will be at Desert Lawn Memorial Park.
