Jimmy Devoe Fairchild
Jimmy Devoe Fairchild, longtime Ponca
City resident, went to be with our Lord,
Monday, January 21, 2002, at Via
Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical
Center. He was 76.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m.
Thursday, January 24, 2002, at the
Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church
with the Rev. Robert Wake officiating.
Assisting will be the Rev. Paul Holmes.
Burial will follow in the Grandview
Cemetery of Kaw City under the
direction of Trout Funeral Home.
Jimmy was born in Eufaula on July 19,
1925, to John and Ollie Nickols
Fairchild. On July 19, 1945, he was
married to Billie Louise Kratz. In the
same year, Jimmy enlisted in the United
States Navy and served his country in
Korea and Vietnam. He retired as an E-
8 in 1971, receiving an honorable
discharge. His medals include the Navy
Unit Commendation, World War 11
Victory Medal, American Campaign,
Asiatic Pacific, National Defense Medal,
Vietnam Service Medal and Two Bronze
Stars.
Jimmy, never wanting to be idle, went to
work as a maintenance man at St. Joseph
Regional Medical Center. He retired
after 13 years. He enjoyed crafts,
fishing, and being a grandfather. He
loved spending time with his
grandchildren.
Survivors include three daughters,
Delores J. Murray and her husband
Samuel of Minneapolis, Minn., Dale J.
Johnson and her husband Jack of
Pawhuska and Jan Fairchild of the home;
one son, Earl D. Fairchild of Ponca City;
10 grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren;
four brothers, Ebert
Fairchild, Verlin Fairchild, Clinton
Fairchild and Clayton Fairchild; two
sisters, Mary Russell and Dorothy
Helvie and numerous nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
his wife, two sisters and one brother.
Casket bearers will be Karl Krebs,
Samuel Murray 11, Ben Murray, Miles
Miller Jr., Bill Cornish and Amos
Landers. Honorary casket bearers
include Charles Fulks, Mike Estes and
Lewis Murray.
Memorial contributions may be made to
the Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church,
Building Fund, 621 W. Grand, Ponca
City, Okla. 74601.
The family will be at 816 West Otto.
