John was a twin of Jefferson Davis Davis.
They both were named after Civil War generals.

The Bassetteer.

Funeral services were held near Bassett Wednesday for Johnny B. Jarrett, 74, who died Tuesday at the Welch Hospital in Northfork, W. VA.
Mr. Jarrett moved away from the neighborhood about 20 years ago and it was at his request that he was brought back home for burial. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Pearl Spencer Jarrett and the following sons and daughters: F. T., H. B., Gray and Alonzo Jarrett, Mrs. May Harris (?), Mrs. Lelia Owens and Mrs. Es–? Little. Survivors also included (illegible) Jarrett, Blackberry, his twin brother Dewey Jarrett (illegible) and Walter and Gae (?) Jarrett of Roanoke and one sister (?) Mrs. Henry Mason of Rocky Mount. One daughter, Miss (illegible) Jarrett preceded him in death. Mr. Jarrett was a member of the Methodist Church.
