James Madison "Gee" Jarrett, 81, a lifelong resident of the Blackberry community, died Sunday at the home of brother, Walter Jarrett, in Roanoke after suffering a stroke of paralysis.
Funeral services were held at the Blackberry church Monday. He was a member of the church for many years. Burial was made in the church grounds.
Surviving are three brothers, W. H. and David of the Blackberry community, and T. Walter of Roanoke, and a sister, Mrs. Henry Mason of Rocky Mount.
He was a bachelor and was familiarly known by hundreds of friends as "Gee".
