Daughter to Stephen Bales and Nancy Ann "Milburn" Bales
Elizabeth and Andrew had 11 children , they also made room for Betsy's brother,James A Bales and his children, his wife Martha had died and James had four young children to care for. After some time brother James moved on with his children to Mustang, Canadian County, Oklahoma where he died in 1902.
Elizabeth out lived her husband by 16 years, she was of strong stock as one can tell by her set jaw in her photo, she also had a twinkle in her eyes and just a small smile.
She had a lot of love to give to raise all her children and they all grew to be fine men and women. She did lose two before 1900, and my great grandmother Lydia died in 1925, the others lived good lives and raised many children.
In the photo of Andrew and Elizabeth they look the same height, however if you notice while standing at the family gathering photo on Andrew's memorial, he is very tall, Elizabeth barely comes to the top of his shoulder, all his grandsons were also tall.My grandmother always called them "Those tall Tennesseeans"
