Traffic Accident Causes Death of Auto Mechanic.
Vernon Armanatrout, aged 39 died Thursday evening at 7 o'clock at the Blackford County hospital in Hartford City from injuries sustained shortly before midnight Wednesday, when the motorcycle he was riding collided with an automobile driven by Melvin Medler. Death resulted from a skull fracture and a crushed leg.
Mr. Armantrout was employed for several years as an auto mechanic at the Ora Brady garage, on South Meridian Street, and more recently at the Sanders garage in North Portland.
The deceased was a son of Martin and Lula (Hoover) Armantrout, and was born near Bryant, August 9, 1911. He is survived by the parents and the following brothers and sisters. Arthur Armantrout, Mrs. Fern Tyndall and Mrs. Doris Shepherd of Portland; and Marion Armantrout at home. He is also survived by the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Hoover, of Bryant.
The body was removed from the Hartford City hospital to the Metzner funeral home in Bryant, for preparation. The body will be removed to the home of his parents late Friday evening.
funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Limberlost Church of Christ, east of Bryant. Rev. Virgil Collins of Muncie will officiate. Interment will be made at the church cemetery.
