BOONEVILLE - J. C. Hatfield, 84, died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville. He was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Prentiss County to Pardon Jackson Hatfield and Birdie Della Jones. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a supervisor in a General Motors automobile manufacturing plant, and he was a member of Osborne Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed raising chickens, fishing, gardening and most of all, he loved and enjoyed his family.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Skeet Davis officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Garden. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Margie Trulove Hatfield, whom he married on April 10, 1947; a son, Jim Hatfield of Booneville; two daughters, Martha George (Danny) of Booneville and Wanda Sanford (Robert) of Guntown; a brother, Bobby Hatfield of Nettleton; three sisters, Marie Simmons of Morris, Ill., Martha Serrano of Booneville and Peggy Sloan (John) of Pontotoc; six grandchildren, Michelle Coats (Mike), Johnny George, all of Booneville, Vanessa Sansone (Richie) of Plantersville, Valerie Jones (Brad) of Saltillo, Jason Hatfield of Booneville and Vincent Vymola of Guntown.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Van Hatfield.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Mrs. Ruth Galloway, 202 E. Skyline Drive, Booneville, MS 38829.
