Darwin Roland Allen

TREMONTON– Darwin Roland Allen, 71, passed away unexpectedly at home October 13, 2008. He was born August 19, 1937 in Tremonton to Robert Roland and Amy Ruth Anderson Allen. He was reared and educated in Tremonton and graduated from Bear River High School. He attended Utah Technical College in Salt Lake City where he studied architectural drafting. He became a draftsman at Thiokol. Darwin owned and operated the family farm for over 50 years. He married LaRee Neeley June 5, 1959 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He was currently serving as Bear River Valley Co-op Board President and had served on the board many years. He also served on the West Corinne Water Board, Farm Bureau Member and on the Bear River Canal Company Board and was a Century Elementary classroom volunteer.

He was presently serving as a High Priest in the Tremonton 3rd Ward, a Home Teacher and in the Sunday School Presidency.

In the past, he served as Ward Clerk, Young Men's President, Tremonton South Stake High Councilor, Bishop's Counselor, Area Physical Facilities Representative and Assistant in High Priests' Group.

He is survived by his wife, children: Colleen (Brent) Shaffer, Garland, Gail (Matthew) Robinson, Herriman, UT, Curtis Anderson Allen, Tremonton and Todd Darwin (Aileen) Allen, Riverdale; six grandchildren; one brother, Clair (Judy) Allen; three sisters: Carol (Ray) Sorenson, Velva Lee (Norman-deceased) Rose and Clyda (Richard) Lindsay; two sisters-in-law, Joan Hancock and Dixie Allen; and one brother-in-law, Sheldon Christensen.

He is preceded in death by two sons: David Paul Allen and Gary Roland Allen; his parents; three brothers: Richard Roland Allen, Theodore Anderson Allen and Dallas Anderson Allen; and one sister, Janiel Allen Christensen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton Third Ward LDS Chapel, 9590 North 6800 West, Tremonton with Bishop Norman Fukui officiating. Family and friends may call Friday, October 17, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Tremonton South Stake Center, 1150 South Tremont St., Tremonton and Saturday from 9:15-10:40 a.m. at the Tremonton Third Ward LDS Church. Interment at the Bothwell Valley View Cemetery.

The family suggests donations to the LDS Humanitarian Fund.
