William Moses Cooper was the son of Benjamin Franklin Cooper and Martha Zipporah "Zip" Smith. He was a widely known Baptist minister. Rev. Cooper was born and reared at Melbourne. He was in ministerial work for 27 years. He was pastor of the Baptist Church at Melbourne, and pastor of the Gassville, Sage, Union, Salem, and Mountain Home Churches. He also spent a year as a pastor at Marionville, MO. Rev. Cooper died from pneumonia. He was 52 years of age. He was survived by his wife, Bertha Ann Wiseman Cooper, three daughters, Thelma Cooper Morgan, Mary Francis Cooper Meers, both of Mountain Home and Lorine Cooper of Melbourne; and a son, Jewell Cooper, of Melbourne. He is also survived by four brothers, Perry Stanford Cooper, Lindsey "Lynn" Jefferson Cooper, Adrew Jackson "Jack" Cooper, Noah Eldon Cooper and a sister, Frances Cooper Smith. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church at Melbourne with Revs. J. E. Kirkbride and T. J. D. King of Batesville conducting the service.
