Benjamin Ogden's birth date is unknown. Benjamin died 17 Jul 1843. His death date is listed on a old family record handed down through the William Shipp and Martha (Ogden) Shipp family. The record is in the possession of Jim and Karen Nelson.
Benjamin Ogden and Courtney Harrison were married 13 Aug 1823 per Clark Co., IL Marriage Record. They had four children:
l. Martha Ann Ogden married William Shipp
2. Benjamin Ogden, Jr. married Susannah Fisher
3. Henry Harrison Ogden
4. Zilphia Jane Ogden married William Hungerford
Benjamin Ogden's second wife was Mary "Polly" Reynolds.
They had three children:
l. Hannah Ogden married Jeremiah North
2. Daniel Ogden
3. Tabitha Ogden married Salathiel "Sol" Leonard
Information from Roger Smith: I believe that Benjamin Ogden and Polly Reynolds Ogden lived near Melrose, IL in the southern part of Clark Co., IL then moved to West York, IL area which is on the southern border of of Clark Co., IL and the northern border of Crawford Co., IL where Polly's parents lived. Maybe Benjamin Ogden became ill enough that it was a necessity for them to move. Polly Ogden later lived north of the Quaker Church in the northern part of Crawford Co., IL and is reported to be buried in the Guyer Cemetery near there, but I have not found her listed in the cemetery listing. I don't know where Benjamin Ogden and his first wife Courtney Harrison Ogden are buried.
A person in the Clark Co., IL Genealogy Library said Polly (Reynolds) Ogden is buried in the Guyer Cemetery, but she is not listed in the cemetery book.
