He was born to Henry and Ida (Gels) Borgerding. On Jan 26, 1952, in Dayton, he married Marilyn George, who survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Terry (Jodee), Woodington, Tim, Atlanta, GA, Chuck (Brenda) and Bruce, all New Weston, Chris (Kathy), Saint Henry; three daughters, Diane (Jeff) Hill, Bradford, Karen (Bill) Black, Phoenix, AZ and Pam Borgerding, Greenville; 21 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two brothers, Harold (Jean), Fort Recovery, and Mark (Marilyn), Dayton; four sisters, Norma (Jerry) Grieshop, Fort Recovery, Virginia Grimberg and Patricia (Jack) Sauer, all Dayton, and Marie Glass, Saint Henry; a sister-in-law, Ramona Borgerding, Dayton; a brother-in-law Elmer Wendel, Fort Recovery.

Deceased are a son Ed; brothers, John, Daniel, Eugene, Robert, Joseph and Jim; two sisters, Henrietta Borgerding and Joan Wendel; and two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Grimberg and William Glass.

He was a member of St. Bernard Church, Burkettsville, and the Men's Holy Name Society of the church.
