He spent his childhood in the Shannon community near Bunker Hill, Kas. and as a child he was a member of the Shannon Friends Church. He attended school in the Shannon community schools and high school at Bunker Hill and Haviland, Kas. In the US Army.... In June of 1940 he enlisted four years of occupation in Japan, one year in Germany and 16 monthes in Korea. After completion of over 20 years of serice he retired from the Army at Fort Riley, Kas., as sergeant in June of 1960, following his retirement he was employed aby the Bell Cab Co., of Junction City, Kas.
He was a member of the Junction City Fraternal Order of Eagles.
On May 27, 1950 he was united in marriage to Margaret Lillian Creel, at Elizabeth City, N.C.
Those left to morn his untimley departure are his wife of the home, two stepsons John A,. Hogwood, of the home, Melvin L. Hogwood, Chester, VA. Three step grandchildren Joyce Strauss and Melvin L. Hogwood Jr., of the home and Terry Lee Hogwood, Chester Va., one step great-grandchild Charlie Carl Strauss, Junction City, Kans. Four brothers Marion and Glenn of Bunker Hill, Kas., Leland, Midland, Tex.,George of Cawker City, Kas. Four sisters Nina Christians, Beaver, Kas, Mary Figgins, Traverse City, Mich., Jennie Harzman, Cawker City, Kas., and Iva May Whiteman, Atlanta, Kas. as well as many nieces and mephews and other relatives and a host of close friends.
Funeral services for Mr. weeks were held at 2p.m., Thursday , Feb.21, 1963 at the Shannon Friends church with Rev. Roscoe Memdenhall and Rev. gerald Holden officating. Burial was in Cross Plains cemetery. Pallbearers were John Weeks, Orval Weeks, George H. Weeks, Edwin D. Weeks, Donald Harzman and Eldon Harzman.
