Lucy was born at Gainesboro, Virginia the daughter of David F. and Margaret S. (Ritter) Brown. She was married twice, first in 1899 to John H. Fout. They lived and farmed at Gainesboro. John Fout died in 1925 and Lucy married the second time on Jan.31, 1931 to Joseph L. Mauck, the son of Harvey and Mary Mauck of Edinburg, Virginia. Joseph was a widower who was previously married to Ellen Kibler, daughter of John and Mary Kibler, who died in 1930. Lucy and Joseph both worked at an apple processing plant in Winchester, Va. where Joseph was a night watchman. On the night of Dec.20,1931 he was struck and killed by a car while crossing the street in front of the plant. Joseph is buried beside his first wife in Massanutten Cemetery, Woodstock, Va.

6. Frances B. Fout, 1910-1918, died of diphtheria.
7. Evelyn V. Fout, 1912-2006, married Ray F. Godlove, 1910-1957.
8. Sarah E. Fout, 1914-2012, married Charles E. Kern, 1911-2000.
9. Caroline W. Fout, 1918-1970, married Melvin W. Secrist, 1912-1989.
10. Jane B. Fout, 1921-1996, married Frank A. Dulaney, 1929-2004.
