Margaret "Maggie" was the daughter of Jacob and Margaret (Jenkins) Ritter. Her father was a miller at MIllwood, Va. Margaret had one sister, Helen B. Ritter, and four brothers; Riley Herman, William. Howard and Charles Ritter. She married on June 4, 1863 at Millwood, Clarke Co. Va. to David F. Brown. They lived at Gainesboro, Va. David was a shoemaker. They had twelve children, two of which died before 1910.
