Ira Bergh was born in Brandon Township on February 6, 1920, the son of Emil and Maghnild Bergh. He was baptized and confirmed in the Chippewa Lutheran Church and has been an active member of this congregation. Ira attended the Brandon School and has been a lifetime resident of Brandon Township.
On Sept. 18, 1964 he was united in marriage to Lila Harding. Ira passed away August 10, 1975 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 55 years. He is survived by his wife; Lila; one daughter, Allison and three step-children: Catherine, Michael and Steven; also surviving are six brothers and sisters: Henry Bergh of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Philip Bergh of Long Prairie, Minnesota; Mirian (Mrs. Vic Ahrens) of Sterling, Illinois; Lloyd Bergh of Long Prairie, Minnesota; Lillian (Mrs. Ralph Ness) of Denver, Colorado; LaVerle (Mrs. Charles Wilken) of New Brighton, Minnesota.
Funeral services were held from Chippewa Lutheran Church, Brandon, Minn. Rev. John Quam officiating. Interment was in Brandon Cemetery, Brandon, Minn. Pallbearers were Kenneth Wilken, Craig Wilken, William Wilken, David Ahrens, Allen Bergh and Charles Bergh. Honorary pallbearers were Hillard Nelson, Ole Langos, Edwin Larson, Don Haseman, Reece Lund, Herbert Nelson, John Smith, Edsel Lund, Albert Johnson, Robert Martin, Eldred Lund.
