Norman Eddy Crouch was born in Mishawaka, St. Joseph Co., Ind. on 27 Aug. 1855. His parents were Lucinda (Matthews) & Eleazer Crouch. Norman was named after St. Joseph Co. Civil War hero Norman Eddy, who was also a doctor, lawyer, congressman & state senator.

On 11 May 1886 Norman married Mary Mae Norter of New Carlisle. They were married in Galien, Berrien Co., Mich. For short periods of time they lived in both Hanna & Rolling Prairie, La Porte Co., Ind, but by 1895 had settled in New Carlisle, St. Joseph's Co., Ind, where they remained.

Norman & Mary had 4 children; Clarence Guy, Nina Mae, Essie Dennison & Mervin Royal Crouch.

Over the years Norman had several occupations, including; working in a pulp mill, sewing machine salesman, professional photographer (he had his own studio in Mishawaka, Ind.) & barber. By the time he & his family settled in New Carlisle, Norman had chosen being a barber as his profession of choice. He owned his own shop on Michigan street in New Carlisle.

Norman Eddy Crouch died on 30 April 1945 in New Carlisle, Ind. He was 89 years old.
