Clarence Guy Crouch was the first child born to Mary Mae (Norter) and Norman Eddy Crouch. He was born in Rolling Prairie, La Porte Co. Ind. on 8 Feb. 1887.

In 1894 he moved with is family to New Carlisle, St. Joseph Co., Ind. While in school, he was in a play about cartoon character "Happy Hooligan". He played Happy & did such a good job that his nickname became "Happy".

On 25 September 1907 in New Carlisle, he married Edna "Grace" Rodgers. After their marriage Happy got a job with the telephone company & he & Grace moved to Buchanan, Mich.. Their son Clarence Chance Crouch was born there on 25 April 1909. Later that year they moved back to New Carlisle, where son, Robert Virgil Crouch was born on 14 May 1916.

Happy loved to play baseball. He played semi-pro ball for several area teams & was called a "star pitcher".

Around 1925 the Crouch family moved to Culver, Marshall Co., Ind when Happy was transfered there by the telephone company. He died in Culver on 17 Oct. 1939 of a heart attack.
