Mary Mae Norter was born on 26 Feb. 1866 in New Carlisle, St. Joseph Co., Ind. She was the last of 5 children born to Barbara (Vuger) & John Norter.

On 11 May 1886 Mary married Norman Eddy Crouch in Galien, Berrien Co., Mich. After their marriage the couple lived in Hanna & then Rolling Prairie, La Porte Co., Ind. for short periods of time, but eventually settled in New Carlisle, St. Joseph Co., Ind.

Mary & Norman had 4 children; Clarence Guy, Nina Mae, Essie Dennison & Mervin Royal Crouch. The family resided at 139 Zigler street.

Mary was very active in her church & she was a charter member of the Home Charity Circle of New Carlisle. She was a member for over 40 years.

After Norman died in 1945, Mary went to live with her daugher Nina (Mrs. Al Kull) in Michigan City, La Porte Co., Ind. In time, Mary became ill & had to hospitalized. She died in the Clinic Hospital on 10 December 1948.
