Jim Aikman, 83, of Russellville, died Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Mitchell Nursing Home in Danville.

He was born February 11, 1930, at Bluffton, to William Forrest and Anna Bogle Aikman.

He was a real estate agent, and was past president of the Russellville Board of Realtors. He was a United States Army LTC veteran of Korea and Vietnam, a member of the Military Officers Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Kiwanis, was a Mason and a member of Central Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Crutchfield Aikman.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim B. Jr. and Audrey Aikman and John C. and Amy Aikman, all of Russellville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane and Clyde Tipton of Barnesville, Ohio, and Jill Aikman Bayless of Hallsville, Texas; two brothers, Loy Aikman of White Hall, and Larry Aikman of Bluffton; a sister, Virginia McCartney of Little Rock; and seven grandchildren, Nelson Tipton of Barnsville, Ohio, Susan Tipton of Mountain Center, California, Bryan Tipton of Richmond, Indiana, Rebecca Bayless and Forrest Bayless of New Orleans, Louisiana, Natalie Aikman and David Aikman of Russellville.

The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2013, at Central Presbyterian Church, officiated by the Rev. Brian Brock. Burial with military honors by V.F.W. Boyce-Woods Post # 3141, will be in Briggs Memorial Park in Briggsville, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home.
