Albert W. Deal, Pioneer Resident Passes Away
Albert Worth Deal, 80 years old, of Jones, passed away at his home last Friday afternoon. He had been ill several months. Services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God church, Rev. George McCoy officiating, assisted by Rev. James Askew, Baptist pastor, and Rev. Bob Majors, Methodist pastor. The services were attended by a large number of relatives and friends of the Deal family. Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery, with Baggerley Funeral Home in charge. Albert Worth Deal, "Bert" was born August 6, 1871 in Wichita, Kansas. He came with his parents, W. S. Scott and Clarissa Deal, to Oklahoma in the fall of 1889, settling south of Jones. In 1891 he established the first blacksmith shop, which later became the first building in the townsite of Jones. On June 6th, 1900 he was united in marriage to Mae Fall, daughter of M. M. and Sarah Fall. To this union 2 sons and 8 daughters were born. Jack of Harrah, Scott of Jones, Mrs. Irene McCoin and Winifred Manwell of Jones, and Pauline Wood of Oklahoma City. His wife, May, preceded him in death in November of 1924. On August 6, 1926 he was united in marriage to Nettie Fall Bynum of Woodward, Oklahoma, sister of May. They established their home in Jones where Bert was engaged in the automobile business until he retired in 1949. He was a member of the Jones Baptist church since 1946. He departed this life April 18th at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 12 days. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nettie Deal, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Irene McCoin and Mrs. Winifred Manwell, both of Jones, and Mrs. Pauline Wood, Oklahoma City; two sons, Cecil R. "Jack" Deal, Harrah, and Walter S. Deal, Jones; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Earline Carpenter, Edmond, and Mrs. Bertaline Kornmaier, Los Los Angeles, Calif; three brothers, John Deal, Luther; Fred and Ira Deal, both of Jones; a sister, Mrs. Susie Judkins, Jones; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Retired Jones Car Dealer Dies
Services are pending for A. W. "Bert" Deal, 80-year old retired Jones automobile dealer who died Friday in his home. The Baggerly funeral home of Edmond will have charge of funeral arrangements. Born in Butler County, Kan., came to Oklahoma in 1889 and homesteaded two miles south of where the town of Jones is now. He built the first house in Jones. Deal and two brothers, John and Dick, furnished the rock to build the first two school houses in Oklahoma City, Emmerson and Washington. Deal organized an automobile agency in Jones in 1921. He retired in 1948. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nettie Deal, of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Irene McCoin and Mrs. Winifred Manwell both of Jones, and Mrs. Pauline Wood, 201 SE 36; two sons, Cecil R. "Jack" Deal, Harrah, and Walter S. Deal, Jones; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Earline Carpenter, Edmond, and Mrs. Bertaline Kornmaier, Los Angeles, Calif; three brothers, John Deal, Luther; Fred and Ira Deal, both of Jones; a sister, Mrs. Susie Judkins, Jones; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
