Vernon Lee Bittle died May 26, 1989, in Turners Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 6, 1899, in Searcy, Ark. and had been a resident of Childress since 1924. He was a retired carpenter. Mr. Bittle and the former Annie Florence Martin were married in 1919 in Paris. She preceeded him in death in 1980. He was also preceeded in death by three sons, Wayne, Willard and John. Survivors include a sister, Myrtle Miller of Tahoka; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bittle of Austin; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
