Mr. Bartholomew was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota to Arthur Francis and Eliza Amanda (Wails) Bartholomew. He came to Seattle in 1924. For ten years he had been a business agent of the Furniture Workers' Union and was one of its organizers. He was a member of the Seattle Aerie No.1, Eagles and Nile Temple of the Shrine.
Surviving are his wife, Roxena (Fish); daughters, Mrs. Harriet L. Tennis and Mrs. Glee Smith, Seattle, Mrs Helen M. Smelcer and Mrs. Gail A. Ross, Spokane; a son, George, Seattle and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Roe, Portland, OR. and Mrs. Charles (Lovancha) Mathis, Seattle.
