"Buckey Rebecca "Bessie" Bartholomew was born January 21, 1882 in Excelsior, Sauk, Wisconsin to Arthur Francis Bartholomew and his wife Eliza Amanda Wails. She married George F. Clow in 1902 in Fairmont, Martin, Minnesota. George died in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon June 27, 1922. Bessie then married Hugh C. Roe in Vancouver, Clark, WA, Oct 9, 1930.
Bessie was very close to her niece Pearl Fine. Their affection was like that of a mother and daughter. When Bessied died September 7, 1957, in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon, Pearl buried her Aunt in the same grave as Bessie's first husband, George F. Clow. She had engraved on Bessie's headstone - "Auntie" "
