THE MAXWELL TRIBUNE, Maxwell, Iowa, Thursday Dec 1962; "CORONARY IS FATAL FOR CARL WHITNEY SERVICES TUESDAY: Carl J. Whitney, 304 I Ave., Nevada died Sunday at a.m at his home after suffering a coronary attack. Whitney, 74, had been ill for the past three and a half months. The son of Clayton and Mary Whitney, he was born at Mingo Dec. 27, 1887. He was married to Miss Iona Rowena Longnecker June 25, 1913 at Maxwell. He was an Elder in the Central Presbyterian Church of Nevada and a member of the Masonic Lodge and Lion's Club. He is survived by his wife, two grandchildren Mrs. Gene Demaray of Ames and Edward Vasey of Everett, Wash.; two sisters, Mrs. Jay Harmon of Maxwell and Mrs. Bert Bell of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be at the Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada Tuesday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Frank Hladky officiating. Burial will be in the Maxwell Cemetery. Friends and relatives from a distance coming to the services for Carl Whitney were: Mr. and Mrs. Forest Scott, Lincoln, Neb.; Mrs. D. W. Curry and Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Demaryay, all of Floyd; Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Whitney, Ida Grove; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Whitney, Fort Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Whitney, Iowa Fall; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Whitney, Radcliffe; Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Dawson, Ankeny; from Des Moines Marvel Malone and Kim, Mrs. Minta Whitney and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Bell. Others from out of town were from Slater, Maxwell, Ames, Mingo, Huxley and Cambridge."
