The funeral for Howard Tenley, 72, of Stanwood was held Saturday ,March 12, at 11 AM at
the Sheets & Son Funeral Home in Tipton with the Rev. Dick Harberts officiating. Mrs. Ed Spear was organist and the Quadratones sang.
Burial was in the Stanwood Cemetery. Pallbearers wer Jim Tenley, Bob Coppess, Eugene Weiland, Dennis Domer, Robert Thumma and Jim Brennan. Honorary pallbearers were Tom Brennan, Howard Albaugh and Henry Oldham.
Howard Tenley, son of William and Orpha (Sisler) Tenley, was born on December 13, 1910 on the family farm near Stanwood. He grew up on the farm and received his education in Stanwood school.
He was united in marriage to Mildred Horne on June 1, 1933 at Davenport. To this union 12 children were born; Dean, Joyce, Richard, Della, Roger, John, Dale, Mary, Steve, Linda, Wanda and Martha. Howard farmed the home place where he gained the reputaion of being a good cattle feeder. He as a member of Cedar County Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a daughter Della. in infancy; one granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include 11 children, Dean of Stanwood, Mrs. Leland (Joyce) Wagner of Stanwood, Richard of Mechanicsville, Roger of Stanwood, John of Stanwood, Dale of Toronto, Mrs. James (Mary) Clark of Clarence, Steve of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Robert (Linda) Walshire of
Topeka, Kansas, Mrs. Gordon (Wanda) Farrington of Mechanicsville and Mrs. Mike (Martha) Harden of Tipton; 35 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews,
Mr. Tenley, who had been ill for some time, died at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids on
March 10.
