Mabel Staples Anderson, age 84, died October 28, 2003 of natural causes.

She was born September 22, 1919 in Coalville, Utah, a daughter of John W. Staples and Bertha Ann Wright. Mabel was married to Ralph G. Anderson (of Logan, Utah) on August 16, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Mabel graduated from North Summitt High School in Coalville and then attended the AC (Utah State University) where she met Ralph. They shared a great love of music over their 64 years of marriage. Mabel was always there to accompany Ralph in choirs and various musical ensembles, and she taught many young people to play the piano and organ. Mabel and Ralph worked together at Ricketts Music Store in Roseburg, Oregon for many years after Ralph retired from school teaching.

Mabel was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many responsible positions. She was always a great support to Ralph and together they strengthened many people where ever they lived. Mabel was a wonderful wife to Ralph and mother to her five children. It would be appropriate to say Mabel and Ralph were pioneers and missionaries for the church where ever they lived, especially in the Roseburg area where they lived for over 30 years.

Mabel was preceded in death by her husband Ralph by only three months. She is survived by three sons and two daughters; Ralph Clair, Chicago; Lynn, Denver; Kay, Provo; Sylvia Jensen, Los Angeles; and Jeannine Jorgensen, Washington, DC; 23 grandchildren and two great- granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2003, at 10:30 a.m., in the Grandview 6th Ward LDS Chapel, 1850 West 1600 North, Provo. Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., prior to services. Interment, Coalville City Cemetery. Services under the direction of Berg Mortuary of Provo.
