Born in Rockingham County, Virginia Mrs. Gates lived most of her life in Tippecanoe county in Battle Ground and near Concord.
In 1906 she was married to Bert E. Gates in Lafayette. He was a machinist and carpenter for National Homes until his death in 1950. She was a member of the former Concord EUB church and Lodge 1209 of the Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are a son Warren Gates of Harner's Trailer Court, R. R. 12, Lafayette and a sister Mrs. Lucy Lambert, Lafayette.
She was buried at Battle Ground.
