Ruth Jane Rodgers Abel

Ruth Jane Rodgers Abel, age 77, of Duck Hill, died Wednesday, Aug. 18 at Grenada Living Center. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, at National Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services followed at 2 p.m. Burial followed in Duck Hill Cemetery.

Ruth was born on Nov. 30, 1932, in Montgomery County to Fannie and A.P. Rodgers Sr. She was a member of the Duck Hill Baptist Church, the Duck Hill Homemakers Club, The Woman's Club, and, also, the Square Dancing Club. She was a retired coil tester from Heatcraft.

Ruth was preceded in death by her father, A.P. Rodgers Sr.; her mother, Fannie Myrtle Rodgers; a brother, William Chatam Rodgers; and a sister, Martha Rodgers Kirk.

Survivors include two daughters, Terry S. Steagall of Van Cleave, Miss, and Lydia Cook of Grenada; four grandchildren, Ian Parks Jolly, Matthew Paul Jolly, Daniel David Jolly, and Bethany Abigail McAdams; and four great-grandchildren.

National Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
