Joe Rodgers dies in Louisiana after lengthy Illness

Funeral services for Joe Allen Rodgers were held at 10 a.m. January 31 at the Duck Hill Baptist Church. Officiating were Revs. Richard Leubert, George Steward, and Norris Corley.

Burial was in the Duck Hill cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Masonic rites were held at the graveside.

Mr. Rodgers, who was 75 years old, died January 29 at the West Jefferson Hospital, Marrero, Louisiana, after an extended illness. He was a native Mississippian and a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Ingram Rodgers; two sons, Woodroe W. Rodgers. Gretna, Louisiana, and A. P. Rodgers, Elliott; a brother, Norman Rodgers, Winona; a half-brother, William Chatham Rodgers, Memphis; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lee Kirk and Mrs. Regional Pyron, Duck Hill, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Ed Simmons, Billy Leverette, Jack Wilkins, James Holmes, L. L. Branscome, Jr., Gary Kirk, Robert Sykes and Earnest Nail.
