She was born November 11, 1908 in Vernal, the fifth child and second daughter of Charles Allen Hardy and Stella Colton Hardy. She married Hiram Adelbert Richardson, December 31, 1927 in Vernal. He died August 3, 1982.She worked five years at JC Penney Company, 19 years at the Vernal Express, and 10 years as a teller at First Security Bank, retiring in 1972. She also worked full time as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary for 15 years and in the Sunday School and YWMIA; she also served a very successful two year mission in the Uintah Stake.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Camp Tokawana. Sarah lived her entire life in Ashley Valley, as a descendent of pioneer forebearers. She was accustomed to hard work and was a person of high moral standards. She never lost interest in the health and well being of her family. She performed innumerable acts of compassionate services.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers, Elsworth Hardy, Paul Hardy, Elmo Hardy and Norwood Hardy and sisters; Edna Hardy McKeachnie, Beulah Hardy Stewart and Wilma Hardy. She is survived by two sons, Howard (Drue) Richardson, Bountiful, UT; Marvin Richardson, Vernal, UT; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Blaine Hardy, Yakima, WA; Lawrence (Mary) Hardy, Salt Lake City, UT; Charles Harold (Bernice) Hardy, Layton, UT; and sister, Arline (Israel) Heaton, Provo, Ut.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 22, 1997 at 11 a.m. in the Glines 5th Ward Chapel, 1270 West 1500 So., Vernal. Family and friends may call Friday evening 7-9 p.m. at Thompson's Vernal Mortuary, 15 East 100 North and Saturday morning at the chapel from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park.
