Marvin Hiram Richardson passed away at his home in Vernal, Utah on Saturday, May 3, 2014 from complications of colon cancer.

He was born December 6, 1931 to Hiram A. Richardson and Sarah Hardy.

He lived most of his life in Vernal. He attended and graduated from Uintah High School, class of 1950. He also attended Utah State University in Logan and graduated from BYU with a degree in finance and accounting.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for several years as a Finance Officer. He worked for the San Francisco Chemical Company and Western Knapp Engineering Company. Locally, he worked for Ashton Brothers, the US Forest Service, and the U.S. Postal Service.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and is survived by his only brother, Howard (Drue) Richardson of Bountiful.

He served faithfully in many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, beginning with his service in the Mexican Mission in the 1950s, where he cultivated a great love for the Mexican people and their Spanish Language. At the time of his service, there was only one mission in Mexico. He also served in the name extraction program, mostly with the names of Spanish descent. He was an avid patron in the Vernal Temple.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Glines Fifth Ward Chapel, 1270 West 1500 South. A viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Ashley Valley Funeral Home, 410 North 800 West, and prior to the services at the church on Wednesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m.
Interment will be in the Vernal Memorial Park with full military honors provided by the American Legion Post 11 and the U.S. Air Force.
