A Davis couple celebrated the Fourth of July by going to Sulphur and getting married. The contracting parties were Mr. Ernest Blythe and Miss Sammie Rhodes and they were married at 4 p.m. by the Baptist pastor at Sulphur.
Miss Rhodes is an estimable young lady and holds a position at B. Wolf's store. She has many admirable traits and enjoys a wide friendship. Mr. Blythe is a son of Mr. And Mrs. Geo. W. Blythe, who live near Davis. He recently received an honorable discharge from the navy and now holds a position at the City Barber Shop. He is an industrious and likeable young man and the future no doubt holds good things in store for him.
The News joins their many friends in wishing them much happiness.

Mrs. Sammie Black left Sunday for Wichita Falls, Texas, to join her sister, Mrs. Ethel Collums on a trip to Louisville, Ky., where they will visit their brother, Frank Rhodes. This will be the first time the three have been together in 25 years. From there they will go to Nashville, Tenn., for a short visit, then to different parts of Alabama before returning home.

Rites Are Held For Sammie Black
Mrs. Sammie Black, 75, of 201 East Benton died Jan. 19, 1974, in an Ardmore hospital after a short illness.
She was born April 3, 1898, at Wayland, Ky., but had lived in Davis most of her life, coming here about 1906.
She and W. E. Black were married Sept. 15, 1923, and he preceded her in death August 2, 1966. A daughter, Ernestine, also preceded her in death on July 18, 1935.
She was a member of the East Main Church of Christ and the Rose Garden Club.
Funeral services were held in the East Main Church of Christ Jan. 21 at 2:00 p.m. with Weldon Farrar officiating. Burial was in Green Hill cemetery and Bahner Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Dale, Herman Allen, Jack Epley, Ishmel Epley, Delmer O'Neal, and Gretchen Doss.
Survivors include a brother, Frank Rhodes of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Ethel Campbell of Wichita Falls, Tex., and nine nieces and nephews.
